This week’s question: How long do you see yourself blogging for? Do you think it’s ok for a blog to evolve over time? For example: You may have started out as a book review blog but now your interest is in cooking as well. Do you incorporate that or start over?
How long do you see yourself blogging for?
This is a question that I ask myself from time to time. I’ll be honest and tell you that occasionally for whatever reason I have thought about calling it quits, or about the need to take a real vacay from it.
It’s a lot of work to run Bookish. It takes up a huge amount of my free time. To think of new things that will interest peeps and myself takes time and planning. I suppose I could go to a different format where all we do is reviews, guest posts and giveaways, but I’ve done that before and it’s boring to me to be honest.
Part of what I enjoy most about Bookish is finding different ways to spotlight books and the authors that we love and recommend. Don’t get me wrong…I’m not knocking traditional book blogs. If that’s the format they’re comfortable with and it works for them then more power to them. For me personally…it’s just not fulfilling enough.
I’m really rather envious of the bloggers that can put out so many reviews every week. Reviews don’t always come easy for me even when I love a book, because I want it to be meaningful…both to me and to those that will ultimately read it. I also don’t want my reviews to come out sounding cookie cutter or like a machine did it. I want each one to be unique, and to express my passion. I am not a writer by training or schooling, and sometimes I feel a little inadequate in that area. Every once in a while I do write a review where I say to myself…WoW! That’s one to really be proud of
I really can’t answer the q at this time tho. I will do it until it’s no longer fun, or until I no longer have a passion for it…I don’t know when that will be…but for now…you’re all stuck with me
Do you think it’s ok for a blog to evolve over time? For example: You may have started out as a book review blog but now your interest is in cooking as well. Do you incorporate that or start over?
I would hope all blogs evolve over time in some way, but as to the example listed I would say no…they should be two separate blogs, or you give up one for the other. I would imagine that the readers would kind of protest the integration as well.
Thoughts?!?
