What is important in design for the blogs you follow? What features/elements do you appreciate? What are big turn off’s?

First thing I want is a blog to load easily and quickly. There are blogs I was fond of that I quit being fond of when they had so much junk, including ads that it wasn’t worth my time anymore.

I also like a blog that is easy to read. When the background and the “ink” are both dark it’s hard to read…that makes me not want to stay and read it.

I like a good design be it a great banner, heading or because it’s stylish in some other way. I don’t like it if a blog is too cluttered looking, but at the same time I’m not a minimalist type of girl either. I want to see some personality in the way it’s designed.

Some blogs use colors I don’t personally care for and that can be a turn off, but that’s such a subjective thing. Clearly, I love the color combination of pink and black. To me it’s both girly enough and sexy enough. Not everybody will like that color combination. Lots of blogs go for neutrals and seek to avoid a look that is either female or male. I get that and I can respect that, but we’re pretty established as a romance blog and I’m ok with that. We don’t read or write romance exclusively but we don’t often stray from it either.

What kinds of blog looks do you favor? What turns you off about a blog…design wise…not content.
